Kristick named to Lott Trophy Watch List

MIKE RILEY SAID this spring that Keaton Kristick is one of the "premier players in the conference" at outside linebacker. The Lott Trophy committee is in agreement, naming the Oregon State senior today to their 2009 Lott Trophy Watch List.

Kristick, a 226-pound strongside linebacker from Fountain Hills, Ariz., had 82 tackles this past season, including 14.5 for losses. He earned second team Pac-10 all-conference honors in '08.

The Lott Trophy Watch List for 2009 is made up of 42 of the nation's top defensive players who have had the biggest impact on their teams on and off the field. Named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the award is given to a player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity (IMPACT).

The other Watch List members in addition to Kristick from the Pac-10 were Reggie Carter, LB, UCLA; Taylor Mays, S, USC; Bo McNally, S, Stanford; Mike Nixon, LB, Arizona State; Syd'Quan Thompson, DB, Cal; Alterraun Verner, DB, UCLA and T.J. Ward, DB, Oregon.

Thirty-eight different schools are represented on the Watch List, with UCLA, Alabama, BYU, and Georgia each having two players nominated.

The winner will be announced at a gala black-tie banquet at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, Ca. on December 13th, 2009.
