Andy Darkins Commits To Oregon State

Andy Darkins, a 6-3, 225 pound linebacker from Lake Oswego (Ore.) and the state's defensive player of the year has committed to Oregon State.

Darkins took his official visit to Oregon State this past weekend and committed on the trip.

"Yeah, I committed to Oregon State," Darkins told Chris Fettes of the I would say the highlight of the trip was just getting to spent a couple of hours talking to Coach Newhouse, the linebackers coach. He talked to me about where they see me fitting in their defense and we watched films.

"Keith Robertson, Roy Scheuning and Ryan Gunderson were there too. I also enjoyed hanging out with my host, Bill Swancutt. I can't tell you exactly what it was, but it just felt right. When I went to Washington, the linebackers coach didn't even know me. Washington is a great school, but I want to go to a place where I'm wanted and they just didn't do that for me."

Darkins said he will not be making any more official visits and is solid commit to Oregon State. The Beavers have really done a great job this year of keeping the top talent in the state and are putting together a very solid recruiting class.
