Gio Bernard narrows list to nine

GIO BERNARD, younger brother of BeaverGreat Yvenson Bernard and the nation's No. 25 ranked tailback in the class of '10, has narrowed his list of schools down to nine. A four-star prospect on, he is a member of national champion Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas, ending his junior season with more than 1,500 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns.

"My senior season workouts are going real good right now," Gio Bernard said. "Everyone is coming to practice at 9:00 a.m. for the most part except for a few guys that are taking some visits.

"The recruiting process is starting to slow down as I have narrowed my list to nine teams. I want to focus on the upcoming season, so I am starting to look at some dates for officials but I will put the recruiting to the side for now. It is going to be real exciting and I am trying to enjoy the moment."

Bernard said the nine were Oregon State, Florida, Miami, FSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Tennessee.

Bernard has over 20 offers, other schools outside the nine include Auburn, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Maryland, Ole Miss, Purdue and Boston College.
