Kristick on Chuck Bednarik Watch List

JUST LIKE Jacquizz Rodgers, senior linebacker Keaton Kristick continues to rack up preseason honors as he was recently named to the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List. The award is given annually to the nation's premier defensive player.

The senior from Fountain Hills, Ariz., is one of 56 players on the preseason watch list that is awarded by the Maxwell Football Club.

He is joined by fellow Pac-10 players LB Reggie Carter (UCLA), DE Dexter Davis (ASU), S Taylor Mays (USC), DT Brian Price (UCLA), DE Daniel Te'o-Nesheim (UW), CB Syd'Quan Thompson (Cal), DE Will Tukuafu (UO) and CB Alterraun Verner (UCLA).

Kristick, who also is one of 41 players on the Lott Trophy Watch List, is a co-team captain for the 2009 season. Last season, Kristick had 84 tackles, including 14 for losses. The 6-3 outside backer has 116 tackles for his career.

The Bednarik Award has been presented since 1995 and is named in honor of Chuck Bednarik, a former University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Eagle great. Bednarik is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and the NFL Hall of Fame 67'.

The semifinalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced Nov. 4 and three finalists for the award will be announced Nov. 23. The winner of the 2009 Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show Dec. 10, 2009.
