Quizz named to third watch list

OREGON STATE running back Jacquizz Rodgers has been named to the 55-member Maxwell Award watch list. Quizz is on three watch lists already - the Maxwell, the Doak Walker and the Walter Camp - in addition to being mentioned as a Heisman candidate by several media outlets.

The Maxwell Award is given annually to the outstanding player in college football.

Fellow Pac-10 players on the watch list included Cal's Jahvid Best, Oregon's LeGarrette Blount, Stanford's Toby Gerhart, Arizona's Rob Gronkowski, Washington's Jake Locker, Oregon's Jeremiah Masoli and USC's Damian Williams

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Nov. 4 with three finalists unveiled Nov. 23.

The 2009 Maxwell Award winner will be announced Dec. 10 as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla..

The Maxwell Award has been presented to the outstanding collegiate football player in America since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell.

The Maxwell Football Club, founded in 1935, is based in Philadelphia, and is the oldest football club in the United States.
