DAY 11: Philipp & Quizz offer a glimpse

CORVALLIS -- In the second team session, true frosh offensive tackle Michael Philipp showed some great quicks off the line and offered a nice pull. And that opened up a big hole for sophomore running back Jacquizz Rodgers to burst through. A look into the present and the future, it seemed, all in one. And there was more pad crackin' to come.

Team Session No. 2:
A couple plays later, the offensive line looked helpless as sophomore defensive end Kevin Frahm teamed up with junior linebacker Keith Pankey to close the lanes and break up a rush by Jacquizz.

With Halahuni wide open, Katz delivered a nice touch pass to the sophomore, hitting the tight end on the money.

Great blocking pick ups by Philipp and senior tight end Howard Croom opened up a big lane for Jacquizz down the sideline.

Later, botched coverage by Clark allowed Adeniji to come away with a reception. In his defense, the senior cornerback lost his footing and fell down while trying to stick with Adeniji.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Seumalo and sophomore linebacker David Pa'aluhi closed up the lane redshirt freshman Jordan Bishop was to run through, netting but a short gain on a screen pass.

Lalich displayed good "escapability" on one play, but threw the ball incomplete.

Goal Line Session:
Canfield wasn't quite on Friday, and overthrew Adeniji in the back of the end zone.

With redshirt freshman Jordan Jenkins taking a few snaps with the first team offense, he beat Mitchell to the corner of the end zone, striding in for a touchdown.

The last play of practice ended on an up note for the offense. Canfield delivered a ball to junior tight end Brady Camp who went up and got it for the score.

Young Players Session:
Freshman quarterback Jack Lomax continues to develop. On Friday he completed passes to freshmen wideouts Kevan Walker and Mitch Singler, placing good air under his passes and delivering the balls on target.

Other highlights included good coverage by sophomore cornerback David Ross -- resulting in an incomplete pass by freshman quarterback Cody Vaz, and junior wideout Shawn McGarity was in position for another grab but Ross reached his hand in to slap the ball out of the receiver's hands.
