CORVALLIS -- The fans that made it to the scrimmage made it very clear that they almost can't wait for the season opening kickoff on Sep. 5. In the opening drives of the first fall camp scrimmage, a number of the players appeared to feel the same way. The first five drives of the scrimmage follow..

Drive: 1 QB: Sean Canfield
Joe Halahuni makes a great catch on a well thrown ball by Sean Canfield on the very first play. Keaton Kristick then lays a good hit on Taylor Kavanaugh.

Jovan Stevenson started in the backfield and had a nice run, but fell short of the first down.

On third down, Canfield rolls out but throws the ball out of bounds with no open receivers. Coach Danny Langsdorf seemed pretty happy with that decision. Hekker boots about a 50 yard punt on to the 8 yard line.

Drive: 2 QB: Ryan Katz
Jordan Jenkins starts in the backfield with No. 1 RB Jacquizz Rodgers sitting out the scrimmaging.

Ryan Katz would have been sacked by Gabe Miller, who got past the tight end with a swift move, had QB's been fair game.

On the ensuing throw Katz finds Aaron Nichols on the sideline -- it was a bullet pass and a nice diving catch by Nichols. Alas, a penalty negated the play.

Jenkins and the o-line decided to take matters in to his own hands, and a couple great runs took the Beavs into to the red zone. Then Jenkins finished it off with a 15 yard touchdown scamper. Kahut made the point after.

For fans of offense, however, that was sadly the most impressive showing the O could showcase for the day. For fans of defense, they were about to be enthralled.

Drive: 3 QB Sean Canfield
Casey Kjos makes a nice grab and gets hit by Keith Pankey, possibly a bit out of bounds on the sideline.

Damola Adeniji beats Tim Clark and makes a nice grab, tiptoeing near the sideline. Damola used his strength to create some space and better positioning on the play.

Another good run by Jovan Stevenson moves the ball closer to the red zone.

Dwight Roberson makes a nice tackle to prevent a big gain.

On the next play Canfield throws an interception in the end zone to Suaesi Tuimaunei. Tui returns the pick to the 25 yard line. Poor decision and throw by Canfield on the play.

Drive: 4 QB Peter Lalich
The Peter Lalich led offense manages one first down and that's it -- he gets sacked on the next third down attempt.

The only bright side of the drive for the offense was a long and high punt inside the 10 yard line by John Hekker. Lalich looked pretty flat on his throws and missed the open receiver on a couple of occasions. Jenkins, however, added a good run in between.

Drive: 5 QB: Sean Canfield
Adeniji runs a beautiful route and Canfield finds him for a nice gain.

The Beaver D then picked things up and stopped the ensuing rush attempts for virtually no gain. Ryan Allen punts this time and in spite of a low snap ,manages to kick it inside the 10 with a bit of a kind roll.
