Series history (OSU leads 2-0).
Oregon State and Portland State have met twice with the Beavers winning both meetings.

The first clash between the two programs occurred in 1983 when OSU defeated PSU 51-14 in Portland.

The most recent matchup happened in 2005 in the first game of the newly renovated Reser Stadium when the Beavs defeated the Vikings 41-14.

Viking connections.
There are several connections between the Oregon State and Portland State football teams.

The Vikings starting quarterback Drew Hubel, a Corvallis High graduate, turned down an opportunity to walk-on at OSU for a scholarship at Portland State.

Tayler Kavanaugh's brother, Conner, is the backup quarterback for the Vikings. Each of the brothers serve as the holder for their teams.

Three OSU transfers are on the Green and White roster - QB Justin Engstrom, DE Carl Sommer and K Jake Webber.

OSU freshman QB Jack Lomax is the son of Portland State great Jack Lomax. Beaver special teams coach Bruce Read graduated from Portland State in 1986.

A friendly wager.
The Portland State and Oregon State presidents are betting on the game Saturday. The loser has to wear the opposing team's jersey at the next Oregon Sate Board of Higher Education meeting.

Showdown at Walmart?!
Portland State head coach Jerry Glanville, who is always full of colorful quotes, was fired up earlier this week saying that he was ready to play the Beavers right away - even in a parking lot.

"Let's get it going," Glanville told The Oregonian. "In fact, if the Beavers want to play tomorrow, if they want to change the game, we're ready. Tell them we'll meet them in the parking lot at the Corvallis Wal-Mart tomorrow."
