Patrick Wu Commits to Oregon State spoke with Plano HS Head Coach Gerald Brence, who confirmed the verbal commitment of one of his players, 6-3, 310-pound offensive lineman Patrick Wu, to Oregon State.

"He's going to Oregon State, that's what I understand," Coach Brence said, also adding that he has spoken with Wu today and Patrick did tell him he was going to be a Beaver.

"He's a tremendous prospect for his size and has tremendous feet. And he's been going up against the best competition in the country, the 5A level around Dallas," Brence said. "When he went on his visit, he just hit it off with Coach Erickson and liked the campus a lot."

Brence said that Rice was hot after Wu as well as a lot of other schools in Texas. "What we like to do is have the players pick out schools they like and we'll send tapes to those schools," he said. "Well, Patrick sent one up to Oregon State and that got the ball rolling. I go way back with Coach Mazzone, and Patrick really likes Coach Mazzone and Coach Erickson. Apparently, he's a perfect for the style of offense they run. He's a strong fit for the type of lineman they want.

"Patrick is a great student, an honors student, and he'll be the type of person Oregon State will be proud of. It will be fun watching him play at Oregon State."
