Last time Oregon State and Arizona played...
Nov. 22, 2008 - No. 21 Oregon State 19, Arizona 17
Beaver placekicker Justin Kahut booted a 24-yard field goal on the last play of the game to give OSU its eighth win of the season and keep it in a first-place tie with USC in the conference standings.

The win was costly for the Beavers though as true freshman running back Jacquizz Rodgers was lost for the season when he hurt his shoulder on a tackle by cornerback Devin Ross in the first quarter.

The play to set up the winning field goal was a 47-yard pass from Sean Canfield to receiver and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Sammie Stroughter ... more from BF.com.

Last time Oregon State and Arizona played in Corvallis...
Oct. 6, 2007 - Oregon State 31, Arizona 16
Oregon State and Arizona met at Corvallis with OSU taking a 31-16 decision to begin a stretch that saw the Beavers win seven of their last eight games.

Oregon State did not waste any time, taking a 31-3 lead early in the second quarter and then letting the defense keep Arizona at bay.

The Beaver defense limited Arizona to no offensive touchdowns, just nine yards rushing and 231 yards total offense, picked off three passes and posted eight quarterback sacks. ... more from BF.com

Last time Arizona played...
Sept. 19, 2009 - Iowa 27, Arizona 17
The motto for Iowa's defense this season is "Six Seconds of Hell."

It must have felt like 60 minutes to Arizona.

Freshman running back Adam Robinson rushed for a career-high 101 yards and two touchdowns and Iowa held Arizona to just eight first downs in a 27-17 victory Saturday, spoiling coach Mike Stoops's return to Kinnick Stadium ... more from ArizonaAthletics.com.

Last time Oregon State played...
Sept. 19, 2009 - No. 17 Cincinnati 28, Oregon State 17
With each pass, a little more air went out of Reser Stadium. In a game where Cincinnati senior quarterback Tony Pike was given loads of time, his counterpart and fellow senior Sean Canfield was pressured constantly and could not put together a solid drive when it was needed most. But it was four key missed opportunities that doomed the Beavs.

If it wasn't a call going against them early in the fourth quarter that broke the Beavers back, it was certainly the football junior wideout Darrell Catchings could not haul in, wasn't it? ... more from the BF.com.

Series history (Arizona leads 20-11-1, 6-8-1 in Corvallis).
Oregon State and Arizona have met 32 times with UA holding a 20-11-1 series lead. Oregon State won the first meeting between the two teams 31-12 in 1966 in Portland.

The Beavers have won nine of the last 10, including the last five of six at Reser Stadium, and the last three overall.

The Wildcats last victory over Oregon State in Corvallis was in 2005 (29-27).

OSU has been very successful of late limiting the Wildcats’ ground game. Over the last four games, Arizona has rushed for a combined 219 yards on 126 attempts for an average of 1.73 yards per carry.

Three of the last four games have been decided by seven points or less.

The last 10 OSU/UA  matchups.

Arizona connections.
Oregon State has seven players from Arizona on its roster - Oregon State true freshman running back Jovan Stevenson is a graduate of Sunnyside HS in Tucson. Other Beavers from Arizona include linebacker Keaton Kristick (Fountain Hills), offensive tackle Geoff Garner (Mesa), defensive tackle Mitchel Hunt (Chandler), linebacker Rueben Robinson (Chandler), offensive guard Rory Ross (Phoenix) and receiver Markus Wheaton (Chandler).

Arizona does not have a player form Oregon on its roster.

Good backs.
The Pac-10 has five running backs averaging 100-plus yards rushing per game, two will be featured Saturday. Arizona’s Nic Grigsby is second in the league with a 133.3 average, while OSU’s Jacquizz Rodgers is third at 114. California’s Jahvid Best leads the conference at 137.3, Stanford’s Toby Gerhart is fourth at 105.3 and USC’s Joe McKnight is fifth at 101.7.

Conference openers.
Oregon State enters Saturday’s game trying to snap a five-game Pac-10 Conference season opening losing streak – 2004 at Arizona State (14-27), 2005 vs. Arizona State (24-42), 2006 vs. California (13-41), 2007 at Arizona State (32-44) and 2008 at Stanford (28-36).

The last Pac-10 opening win for OSU was 2003, a 45-17 victory over ASU. Arizona snapped a seven game conference opening losing streak with a 48-14 win vs. Washington last season.

Wildcats like the NW.
Trips to the Pacific Northwest have been kind to the Wildcats under Mike Stoops. UA is an impressive 6-3 under Stoops on the road against the Oregon and Washington schools, winning six of the last eight. That includes the Cats’ 29-27 win at Oregon State in 2005, UA’s lone win against the Beavers in the last 10 meetings between the schools.

In the most recent nine games in the Northwest, Arizona has scored an average of 33.1 points per game, and it has scored 48 points or more in the last three games (55-45 loss to Oregon in ’08; 59-28 win at WSU ’08; 48-41 win at UW ’07).

However, Oregon State limited the Cats to just 16 points in a 31-16 romp in 2007 – UA’s last trip to Corvallis.
