Cali d-end visits OSU, getting closer

A THREE STAR defensive end prospect was in Corvallis this weekend, taking in the black and orange gameday experience. And the next few weeks could be important to where he'll eventually sign.

That's because a verbal commitment doesn't look to be far off for Andrew Hudson (6-3, 225, 4.9) out out Redlands, Calif.

"Maybe two weeks. If not that, maybe a little later. I don't have an exact date, though," said Hudson.

Hudson said he probably is done with official visits. OSU was his third visit, he'd previously tripped to UW and Arizona.

"They all have the same good qualities. And they're all a little different," said Hudson, who added that immediate playing time possibilities could factor into his decision.

HUDSON IS PUTTING together another solid year for Redlands East Valley (8-0), with 42 tackles (23 solo) in eight games. Eight of those take downs have been sacks. As a junior, Hudson posted 70 tackles, six sacks and one fumble recovery.

He's also in '09 caused two fumbles, recovered another and has a defensive touchdown.

"It was nice," he said of his visit to Oregon State. "Just like on my other trips I got a chance to see things I didn't see during the summer."

Hudson said he spent a good portion of his time over the weekend with d-line coach Joe Seumalo.

"They're a pretty calm team. Even when (UCLA) started coming on they just kept their heads in the game, there was no nervousness on the sidelines or in the stands," said Hudson.
