Change of plans

IT'S OFTEN A juggling act when it comes to December. There are in-home visits to be made, game plan and prep for a bowl game and more. Oregon State had been planning on bringing in a few official visitors this weekend but as is wont to happen in recruiting, plans change.

Ryan Murphy said he and Fred Thompson, both of Oakland Tech and holding Beaver offers, didn't trip this weekend to Corvallis and will instead visit OSU next month.

"My trip got cancelled, I guess Oregon State was trying to fit in (bowl preparations), I'm really not that clear on it, but the visit was cancelled. We have scheduled another visit, on the 15th of January," said Murphy.

Last week Murphy had schools stopping by the school and coming by for in-home visits. This coming week will be more of the same.

"This week is Washington State, ASU might come down again and then UCLA," said Murphy.

Murphy was his league's rushing champion this season to the tune of 1,983 ground yards but his best position at the next level might be over on the defensive side. He said Oregon State has talked to him about both safety and halfback.

In addition to Oregon State, he holds offers from ASU and WSU, and is also hearing from UCLA, Fresno State and Cal.
