Northwest Pac-10 recruiting battle for DE

OREGON STATE WON'T take a full boat but there's still loads left to happen in the Beavs' 2010 class between now and February's Signing Day. One state up, a black and orange DE target was the Defensive MVP award in the rough and tumble Narrows League. He's deciding between a pair of Pac-10 offers, one of which is from Oregon State. And he's set a visit date to Corvallis.

It's come down to two for Tacoma's Scott Crichton.

"It's Wazzu and Oregon State," said Crichton (6-3, 225, 4.7).

The Foss High defensive end is eyeing upcoming in-home visits from both schools sometime in January, and he had an in-home last month with Washington State area recruiter Mike Levenseller.

"They're (both) coming up pretty soon to talk about things. Coach Levy already visited with my mom. It went well, my mom really liked him and he explained everything really well to her and to me. It went really well," said Crichton.

CRICHTON WILL OFFICIALLY visit Oregon State on Jan. 15. He tripped to Washington State back in mid-November.

"My visit with Wazzu, it was a really good visit... For Oregon State, I'm looking to find out about the academics, environment and just how the players are," said Crichton.

CRICHTON TORE UP the Narrows this past season, racking up 78 solo tackles (total tackles number unavailable).

Named the Narrows' Defensive MVP, first team All-Area by the Tacoma News Tribune and first team AP All-State, he also broke up 10 passes, forced four fumbles and had one interception.
