Robinson: 'Take THAT, negative recruiters'

IT WASN'T PEACE of mind. It wasn't about a feeling of security. No, the first thing Craig Robinson mentioned to Oregonian beat writer Paul Buker after OSU announced his two-year contract extension at Oregon State through the 2015-16 season, was that now schools would stop the negative recruiting against him and Oregon State.

Paul Buker of the Oregonian had an enlightening Q&A with Craig Robinson after the coach's hoops contract extension had been announced.

" know what I feel like? I feel like, ‘good, now people can't keep calling up our top 50 recruits and telling them I'm leaving. Because that was a big distraction. It's definitely been used as a weapon against us," says Robinson in the interview.

Robinson had been mentioned by various media outlets, (and apparently quite a few schools out on the recruiting trail,) to be a top contender for, among others, the DePaul job.

The 47-year old Chicago native led the Beavs to an 18-18 record and the CBI postseason tournament title in his first year at Oregon State. Oregon State was 6–25 the year prior to his arrival.

This season, OSU is 13-15 (7-9) Pac-10 with two more regular season games to play. They currently sit at seventh in the Pac-10 but are just one game out of fourth place.
