BASEBALL: Beavs fall, season comes to a close

IN THE END, the hill they put in front of themselves proved too high a climb. Oregon State spotted FAU a disastrous six first inning runs, and trailed 8-0 after just two innings. The Beavs battled, and made it a game, but came up short, 11-7, in the elimination game and saw their season end.

Each time the Beavers threatened to make things a little more uncomfortable for the Owls, Florida Atlantic had an answer.

Rob Folsom got a big, 2-out single, plating two Beavers to cap a four run frame and cut the lead to 8-4 in the third inning. But from there, OSU staged no more rallies over the next three innings.

Florida Atlantic scored three runs in the seventh to bump the score up to 11-4 -- but the Beavs answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Following that, however, OSU couldn't bring any more across the plate over the last two innings.

Beaver starting pitcher Tyler Waldron couldn't make it out of the first inning, allowing four hits and walking two in allowing six earned runs. Dylan Jones, Folsom and Adalberto Santos each collected two hits on the day.
