Paea named to two more watchlists

AND TWO MORE makes four. Stephen Paea, Oregon State's All-America defensive tackle candidate, was named Monday to the Outland Trophy and Nagurski Award Watch Lists by the Football Writers Association of America.

Paea has now been named to four preseason watchlists -- Outland Trophy (nation's top offensive or defensive tackle); Nagurski Award (top defensive player); Lombardi Award (top lineman) and the Lott Trophy (on and off the field success).

The Outland Trophy is the third-oldest in college football and will be awarded for the 64th time this year. The Nagurski is presented by the FWAA in conjunction with the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

The recipients of the Outland, Nagurski and Lombardi awards will be announced Dec. 9, while the Lott Trophy will be presented Dec. 12.

Paea, a 6-1, 311-pound senior and co-team captain, has 19.5 quarterback sacks and 84 tackles over his OSU career -- a career that has spanned only two seasons with Paea coming to Oregon State as a sophomore junior college transfer out of Snow College in Utah.

As a junior, Paea shared the Morris Trophy last season as the Pac-10 Conference's top defensive lineman.

Oregon State opens fall camp on Aug. 9 with the season opener on Sat., Sept. 4 vs. the TCU Horned Frogs at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN at 4:45 p.m. PDT.
