FALL FIVE: Defense

THERE ARE PLENTY of questions to be answered on defense headed into fall camp -- especially at defensive end. Here are five players, with four of them residing on the defensive line, to keep your eyes on this fall camp. The only incoming defensive end has a shot at early playing time, especially at being a third down specialist.

It takes a special player to come in and make an impact as a defensive end as a true freshman. Could Crichton be the answer to OSU experienced depth woes out on the edge?



Pankey 's strong headed persistence and sheer determination has setup him up to make good on his promise to play this season.

The senior, who has a redshirt year available, started running in June, but did not participate in most of the team's summer workouts.

Some problems have surfaced in the past on the game days due to lack of size and with him missing several months due to Achilles tendon surgery, will he be able to bounce back?



Weather he pushes for a starting spot or simply fills out the two deeps, the team desperately needs some experience and another body at defensive end.

It sure wouldn't hurt either if he were to grab a sack or seven during the year.



The oft-forgotten, and oft-injured Rosa can make an impact if he can stay healthy.

He has a great first step and is naturally strong, but has not taken many snaps due to his injuries.


With the offensive tackles back at full strength, unlike in the spring, will he be able to still get to the quarterback consistently --- or was the spring game just one of those days?
