- The defense gave up 453
yards of total offense, 5.6 ypp, 278 yards on the ground, 5.1 ypc, 175 yards
through the air, 10.3 ypc, while giving 28 first downs, 22 via the run and
five by pass.
- TCU converted 11 of 17 third downs while scoring 4 of 6 times in the redzone.
The defensive ends were largely a non-factor as were the defensive tackles at times.
Even Stephen Paea was held in check for most of the night -- there is definitely room to improve here.
- DT Stephen Paea
had four tackles, including one sack -- the team's only sack of the game.
He faced double and even triple teams the entire game, but also faced one on one coverage at times.|
- DT Brennan Olander
received the start next to Paea, but did not record a stat.
- DE Dominic Glover
recorded two tackles in his first game as a Beaver.
- DE Taylor Henry
made four tackles, including one for loss, in his first start.
He was not very effective though and rarely got to the quarterback.
- DE Gabe Miller
made four tackles, but like Henry had a difficult time getting to the quarterback.
- DT Kevin Frahm made one tackle in his debut at defensive tackle.
The leader of the linebackers Dwight Roberson turned in a fine game, but the other players left much to be desired.
Time and time again TCU ran to the outside with the linebackers unable to shed their blocks.
- Nine different linebackers
played in the game and recorded at least one tackle on defense.
- LB Dwight Roberson
picked off his first career pass. With TCU driving in the third quarter and
about to go up by 14 points Roberson stepped in front of the tight end on
third and short from the OSU 13.
Roberson's pick setup Jacquizz Rodgers' 1-yard run to knot the game at 21.
The senior linebacker also had a key pass deflection in the fourth quarter when he went horizontal to the turf on third three to give the Beavers the ball back with 4:09 to play.
- MLB Rueben Robinson
received the start against TCU, but split time equally with Tony Wilson.
Robinson finished with two tackles.
- MLB Tony Wilson
grabbed seven tackles in his first collegiate game.
- LB Keith Pankey
snagged five tackles, but had trouble shedding blocks.
- True freshman Michael Doctor got plenty of snaps on the outside as the coaches tried to
put a speedy player on the outside. He finished with two tackles.
- Junior Cameron Collins lined up at linebacker, mainly on third down when the coaches were looking for speed on the outside. He concluded the game with one tackle.
Despite a lack of pressure on the quarterback the secondary blanketed the TCU receivers resulting in Dalton having to scramble for a first down.
The secondary was solid at tackling as well.
- S Lance Mitchell’s
18 tackles were a career-high and ties him for eighth on OSU’s all-time
single game list.
Mitchell also made a 21-yard interception in the first quarter that setup the Beavers' first score. It was the fourth interception of his career.
- S Suaesi Tuimaunei
grabbed a career high 14 stops. He had a total of 41 tackles last year.
- S Anthony Watkins
saw his first action at safety. He finished with one tackle that came on a
solid stick on a kickoff return.
- CB Brandon Hardin
finished with seven tackles and one pass breakup.
The big cornerback turned in a fine game with several solid hits and tight pass coverage.
- CB James Dockery
had six tackles, but was rarely challenged deep -- and for good reason. Anytime
the Horned Frogs tried to throw deep Dockery he was in stride with the receiver.
- CB Jordan Poyer received his first game time snaps at cornerback. He had two tackles.
