Jabari Brown, 6-4, 200, Oakland (Calif.) Oakland HS, called Oregon the "best fit" for him. He is the first major recruit for Head Coach Dana Altman.
Brown is known as a phenomenal shooter and was also heavily recruited by Arizona State. He is the No. 5 ranked player nationally at his position, and by committing to Oregon has jump-started Altman's efforts in rebuilding the Ducks. Altman took over the coaching job last spring.
When Pac-10 play begins in January 2011, the new Matthew Knight Arena becomes the home of the Ducks.
Brown visited the Eugene campus last weekend and reportedly attended the Oregon-Stanford football game. Reports from Scout.com indicate that Brown's parents were very impressed with the Oregon campus and that may have been a factor in Brown's decision.
