The Rundown: Oregon vs UCLA

The UCLA Bruins are a tough team to figure out. They have the ability to manhandle any college football team from the state of Texas, but are rather inept against everyone else. The Oregon Ducks on the other hand have just been a steam roller flattening everything in their path so far.

For the untrained eye it would seem this game probably isn't worth the fuss of staying up late on a Thursday night. UCLA is 1-2 against Pac-10 opponents being obliterated by both of the northern California schools and having a fairly easy victory against Washington State. The reality is the Bruins have scored 30 or more points against two of the three Top 25 teams they've faced this season and didn't allow more than 13 points in either contest. On the other hand they were smothered 35-0 against Stanford, so it's hard to figure out which version will show up to Autzen Stadium this Thursday night. For those expecting a blowout don't forget this same UCLA team went to Austin, Texas and flat out beat up on the Longhorns who are good enough to beat Nebraska and gave Oklahoma everything they could handle. For that same group you can take comfort in the combined score of 70-7 against competitive Pac-10 teams this year.

The Oregon Ducks are on cloud nine right now jumping to a #1 ranking in both human polls while being idle. They're at or near the top of every offensive stat and the defense are making better adjustments than anyone else in America only allowing 14 points in the third quarter and zero in the fourth quarter this season. The turnover margin is strongly in the Ducks favor. To add to the insanely high offensive numbers the defense and special teams are scoring touchdowns on a regular basis. Plain and simple: the Oregon Ducks are a complete football team.

We know the Ducks will play 60 full minutes of football. What we don't know is what version of the 2010 UCLA Bruins will be showing up. You would have to expect the Bruins to bring their best effort against the #1 team in the land.
