Oregon Head Coach Chip Kelly was stoic in his response to the selection and acknowledged that Auburn will be a tough opponent, especially with quarterback Cam Newton running the offense.

"This game will come down to fundamentals.," said Kelly of the game. "The deal with Cam Newton is how well we tackle him."

Kelly, went on to say that he felt that Newton, the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy will be more than a handful that the Duck coaching staff will have to plan for. Kelly called Newton the "best player in college football right now."

Kelly told the national television audience that he knew from the spring workouts that his team had the potential to reach the BCS Championship and that he intended to continue to prepare for this game as all others, by hard work in practice.

Oregon finished the season as the BCS No. 2 team. Auburn surged ahead of the Ducks in the final AP Poll vote for the regular season although the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll still have Oregon atop of its poll.
