Jerome has been growing, some by natural means and some by hitting the weight room. Johnson has added about 10 pounds of muscle and now weighs in at very solid 256 pounds, but his family says that he is as fast as ever. In addition, he is noticeably taller than his 6'-0" height from a year ago and has shot up to nearly 6'-2". Jerome says that he is still being penciled in as a fullback for the Ducks, but by looking at his bulked up frame, it doesn't take much imagination to plug him into the middle linebacker position, where he recorded 139 tackles and took All-City (Los Angeles) honors as a senior in high school.
Jerome Johnson is looking forward to reporting to Oregon on August 4th for Rookie Camp and has decided to major in business after he graduates from high school on June 19th. There could also be another Johnson getting some serious recruiting looks on the horizon. Jerome's younger brother, Jeremiah, is a polished running back who participated in today's (April 6, 2003) Nike Camp and reportedly rushed for 1000 yards last season for Dorsey High School as only a sophomore. That story may develop more next year…
