Richardson Influenced By Current Duck

Detroit (MI) Cass Tech has gotten used to sending its best and brightest to FBS programs all over the country. Three-star cornerback Terry Richardson appears primed to be the latest Technician to make a splash on the recruiting scene.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No I do not."

Have you been receiving mail from Oregon?

"Yes I have...I usually used to get it every week, but now they don't really come in that much."

What is your overall interest in Oregon?

"You know right now I'm very interested in Oregon. My friend Dior Mathis is out there so Oregon is a school that I really, really, really want to check out. I want to see what it is that makes people want to go to Oregon."

What is it about Oregon that captures your interest?

"All the amazing facilities."

Have you taken an unofficial visit or anything like that to Oregon?

"No I haven't. Actually, I want to try and get out there for the Spring Game, but I'm not gonna make that trip because I haven't really been contacted by any coaches."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I am a very big, dynamic, playmaker type of a guy. I love to make big plays in the biggest moments of the game. I'm a true playmaker and that's what I try to do."

Is there anyone at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"I try to pattern my game after Devin McCourty for the New England Patriots; the rookie Pro Bowl corner. I like his style and I believe I play similar to him."

What kind of influence has Dior been on you both on and off the field?

"Dior has played a HUGE influence on me when it comes to recruiting and really learning technique at the cornerback position. If I didn't have Dior to learn from, then who knows where I would stand right now when it comes to colleges."

What are you looking for in a program?

"The number one thing I look for is a useful degree and second thing I'm looking for is that family atmosphere with the coaches; where everyone gets along and had lots of respect for the coaches. I want coaches that take that positive influence type of role and make sure you're doing everything right."

Is distance a factor for you?

"No, no. Not at all. Like I said, I'm gonna go wherever I feel the most comfortable."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study in school?

"Yes. Actually, I want to start off studying architectural engineering and after that I want to do sports science."

What are some of the offers that you have from other schools?

"This is just a few of them, but I have Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, and USC."

Are you wide open or do you have a list of schools that stick out to you right now?

"Right now, I am wide open, but I have kind of a top five in mind that I'm trying to put together. But right now, I'm pretty wide open."

If Oregon were to offer, where would they stand for you?

"They would most definitely be in the top five (laughter)."

What's your schedule for the next few months? Are you planning to go to any camps? Junior Days? Unofficial visits?

"I will be at Ohio State's Junior Day on the 27th of February and I was gonna try to go to Notre Dame's Junior Day on the 26th, but I have a state indoor track meet so I can't miss that."
