Recruiting Services Within Guidelines

The University of Oregon tonight issued a statement addressing a report that revealed two recruiting services were paid for services rendered, and that the payments are no different than services purchased by a number of colleges and universities throughout the country.

"This is something we remain confident that is within the acceptable guidelines allowed by the NCAA and occurred with the knowledge of the department's compliance office," indicated the University of Oregon through a media release from the Oregon Media Services office.

"We have previously stated that we have not been in contact with anyone from the NCAA or Pacific-10 Conference in regards to these practices and that situation remains unchanged," the release went on to say.

A report by Yahoo News indicated that two individuals, Will Lyles of Complete Scouting Services was paid $25,000 by the University of Oregon and Baron Flenory of New Level Athletics were paid $3,745.

It should be noted that Baron Flenory is a former employee of Scout.com.
