Ducks Slump In Desert

The woes for the Oregon Ducks continued on Thursday night as Arizona State bombed the Ducks 73-53 at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. Oregon slumped to 14-15 for the season and 7-10 in conference play. The Ducks were led by senior guard Jay-R Strowbridge with 17 points while Garrett Sim added 10.

Oregon shot just 30 percent from the field (15-of-50), going 9-of-27 on 3-pointers (33.3 percent). ASU shot 44 percent (22-of-50), and made 13-of-33 from behind the 3-point arc (39.4 percent).

Ty Abbot led ASU with a game-high 19 points.

Oregon takes on Arizona Saturday at 11 a.m. (PT) in Tucson.

POSTGAME NOTES

- The Ducks dropped to 2-14 overall when they shoot for a worse percentage than their opponent, and 3-11 on the season when they trail at halftime.

- Jay-R Strowbridge (17 points) led the Ducks in scoring for the second time this season. It was the 12th time Strowbridge has reached double figures in scoring, the eighth time in the last 11 games.

- Garrett Sim (10 points) reached double figures for the second time in the last three games. It was the 11th time this season Sim has scored 10 or more points (25th time in his career).

- Malcolm Armstead (three steals) remains No. 7 all-time for career steals at UO. He is just one behind Aaron Brooks who ranks No. 6 with 127 steals in 115 career outings.

- E.J. Singler (10 rebounds) led the Ducks in rebounding for the 13th time this season (19th time on the career). It was the third time this season Singler has grabbed 10 or more rebounds (fourth time of his career).

- Rihard Kuksiks had seven made 3-pointers which is the most any opposing player this season (previous best: Kyle Singler made 5 against UO on Nov. 27).
