Lagace Has Ducks In Top Three

A physical two-way player who ranks as one of the top prospects in the State of California for the Class of 2012, Arcadia (CA) three-star safety Taylor Lagace tells eDuck that he holds three Northwest programs in high regard.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"Right now, I'm being recruited by coach (John) Neal -- the DB's coach -- but he has not made an offer yet. He said that he has to get to know me first. We had a personal meeting a couple of weeks ago and he said that he's gonna come back down to the high school in a couple weeks and watch me practice with the team and then we'll go from there."

How often have you been in contact with coach Neal since the recruiting process started for you?

"Me and coach Neal; I've been probably calling him every two weeks. We've been getting to know each other for the past month and a half, so me and coach are going good. I'm getting to know him."

And coach Neal has been the only coach from Oregon that you've been in contact with, is that correct?

"Yes sir."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"Oregon, even though they haven't offered me, they're definitely in my top three with Washington and Boise State."

What about Oregon stands out to you?

"They're a great program, man. I watched them in practice and they always go hard, I watched them in games and they're always going to the ball on defense, they run hard, they work hard and they're just together on the field."

Is Oregon looking at you specifically at safety?

"They're looking at me at safety."

You haven't unofficially visited Oregon in the past, have you?

"I have not, but I might do that this summer if (coach Neal) asks me to come out."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I see myself as a physical athlete that likes to get the ball and get physical and hit and I'll be able to make a play for you."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"I like the way Taylor Mays hit at USC."

What are you looking for in a program?

"My position coach -- we have to have a good relationship -- the education of the school I'm looking to get in to and how close knit the team is."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want study when you get to college?

What offers from other schools do you currently have?

"I have an offer from Washington, Boise State, Idaho, New Mexico, Northern Arizona and UC Davis."

Do you have an plans this summer as far as camps and/or unofficial visits?

"I've taken an unofficial visit to Boise State this year and that's all. I'm going up to Washington on the 10th of June."

Has coach Neal discussed any potential visit dates for you?

"Yeah, he said it would be cool if I came up this summer and checked it all out."

Has he mentioned anything about potentially offering a little bit later on down the road?

"He mentioned that one of the next times he comes down for one of the practices, he might be offering. He said he's looking at a handful of guys and that I'm one of them. He said he's looking to offer soon."
