Harper Is Looking For A Traditional Power

Ontario (CA) Colony three-star athlete Bryan Harper is a coach's dream on the gridiron. With the versatility to be plugged in at a number of positions, Harper's true value may be realized at either wide receiver or defensive back, two positions in which the Oregon coaching staff covets Harper's abilities.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No sir."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"I was exchanging e-mails with coach (Tom) Osborne early on in the recruiting process and then later on, coach Al (Nick Aliotti), the defensive coordinator, came out to get a look at me and everything and he talked to me and everything and he said he would be in contact. He said I was a great looking cornerback and that he could use a guy like me on the defense. That was pretty much it."

When was coach Aliotti out to visit you?

"Spring ball, so it was about three weeks ago."

Was that the last you've heard from him?

"Yes sir."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I've always loved Oregon. I've always been a fan of what they do on the offensive side of the ball and the defensive side of the ball and just the swagger they play with and the tempo and the style that they play. Oregon has always been a school that I've always had interest in."

Has there been any discussion between you and Oregon as far as which position they would like you to play if you were to commit?

"That was one of the things. It was more that I was just a great looking athlete and that's what they're recruiting me as and I would just come in and see where I fit best and see where I naturally fit."

Do you have a preference as far as which side of the ball you'd like to play on?

"No. That's not going to play any type of determining factor of where I commit to. I just like playing football."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"Definitely an explosive player. I'm definitely an aggressive and intense player and a game changing player; like a playmaker."

Is there anyone at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"Not really. I love the way Michael Vick plays, I love the way Darron Thomas obviously plays...so I wouldn't say there's a guy that I pattern my game after, but I'd say that there's definitely guys that I grew up watching what they do and I do sometimes try to mimic some of the things that they do and just try to be looked at as an explosive athlete like those players."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Definitely tradition; a place that has a powerful tradition. Second is coaching; I want to have a good relationship with my coaches and players and basically be on the same page and play for a coach that obviously has won and that has done great things and stuff like that and that's a program that's going forward."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"Communications and probably business and I've thought about journalism too."

What are some of the offers that you currently hold from other schools?

"Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico State, Arizona State, Montana and I think that's where I stand as of now."

Do you have a top five or favorites list out of the schools that you've been in contact with?

"No, I wouldn't say that I have a top five as of now, but schools definitely do stand out to me like USC...I've been in contact with them a lot. USC definitely stands out to me -- I have a cousin that plays up there as well -- UCLA, Colorado and Colorado State and Oregon, as well."

As far as a camps and unofficial visits go, where have you been and where do you plan on going this summer?

"I've been to USC numerous times, probably three or four times. I've been up to Arizona State, I'm going to UCLA next weekend and then I'll be at Washington as well. I want to get up to Oregon too if I can set something up."
