Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?
"I'm really not sure. I got an impression that I would receive one, but I'm not sure at this point. They haven't contacted me and told me that I have an offer from them...I haven't received a letter or an e-mail and the coaches haven't told me or anything that I have an offer. Hopefully soon I'll get one."
What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?
"I last talked to Don Pellum, the assistant coach. He really seemed interested in me as a potential player. He said I have to get well with the ankle situation and stuff like that...really, I've been getting in contact with them throughout the season and I like them as a potential choice."
When was the last time you had contact with coach Pellum or anyone else from Oregon?
"There was another guy who came up to the school (during the spring), but I haven't really contacted him or talked to him in awhile."
What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?
"Really, Oregon is a potential choice. They're one of my top choices right now. It's a really good school, awesome facilities. I have a former teammate that goes to Oregon. He went to Dominguez High School about three years ago and he talks very highly of the school and says it's a great place to be -- a great fit with the community, the stuff he's doing in the community, the academics -- everything is good. That's what I've been really thinking of and trying to evaluate. I am thinking about taking an official there, but I'm really not sure...I'm think about taking an official there during the season or after."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"I really am disciplined when it comes to orders and things I need do. I'm a great athlete on both sides of the ball, I'm a leader not a follower -- I try to lead by example and I try to lead the team -- I really have a sense of urgency and I'm a great student-athlete. I always think academics should come first."
Is there a player at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?
"I'm really not sure. I don't really think of myself taking after another athlete. People tell me who I remind them of, but I really don't know who they are (laughter)."
Has Oregon specified which position along the offensive line they like you at?
"That's really been a struggle. I haven't really heard from any schools or coaches for which position they like me at. Really, Scout.com and the other sites, they've been taking me as an offensive guard but I can play either tackle or guard."
What are you looking for in a program?
"The thing I'm looking for is great academics...that's number one. Really, as far as athletics goes, it's the basic facilities I need, weight room and stuff like that; the basic necessities. I'm really just looking for a team that we're all in as family; we look out for one another if we need anything. I'm looking for a balanced offense -- run and pass -- good coaches and that's basically it."
Have you given any thought as to what you might want to major in when you get to college?
"Really, at first, I wanted my major to be sports medicine, but that might fall out of place, so I am thinking of another major I want to major in. Probably business or sociology or marketing and communications or something like that."
What are some of the offers you currently hold from other schools?
"I have USC, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Oregon State, SMU, Nevada, Boise State, Auburn and I've been receiving some interest from Michigan, Duke, Georgia and schools like that. Also (I have offers from), New Mexico, New Mexico State, I'm not sure if I have an offer from Arizona State...I'll have to talk to my coach about that...but probably Arizona State too."
Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?
"Really it's Auburn, Oregon, Washington, UCLA and USC."
As far as camps and unofficial visits go, where have you been and where do you plan on going this summer?
"Really I haven't really taken any trips this year, but last year we took a trip to Arizona and Northern Arizona for camps; that's as far as I've been. I've been to UCLA and USC's Junior Day, I've been to some camps and stuff like that and I've been to San Diego State, but that's just my area. Catching flights to different camps will be financially difficult...me and my parents have been talking about it and we might take a trip to a school. We're taking a trip to Alabama because we have a family reunion out there soon, so we might take an unofficial to Auburn and see how that goes and how it looks."
