Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?
"Right now I don't have an offer from Oregon, but it's very close."
What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?
"Basically, during spring ball, I had talked with (linebackers) coach Don Pellum. He came down and scouted me and he told me he liked my quickness and he likes me for the kind of defense that Oregon has. The scheme of Oregon is about speed and determination and competition, so he really liked that in me. He told me to just go ahead and wait for the offer because it's coming."
Did coach Pellum state specifically when you might expect an offer?
"He said it was supposed to be real soon. He said he has to go and watch the film with the defensive coordinator and then he'd get back to me, so I'm just going ahead an awaiting for it."
What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?
"I think it's great. I've been watching them play since I don't know how long, I really like their style of their whole scheme and it looks like a nice place. I just want the chance to at least be able to visit and see what it has to offer for me as far as football and academics."
Has coach Pellum discussed getting you up to Eugene for a visit sometime in the foreseeable future?
"Yeah, he mentioned how I'll be taking an official visit during the season of football, so I guess that's an indication that I'll be getting an offer pretty soon."
What stands out to you the most when you consider Oregon as a possible destination for you?
"I really like the way Oregon's defense brings it. It's an uptempo game when you're playing against them. For Oregon, that's what was so interesting about them last year. When they played against USC, it was just an uptempo game and they forced USC to do things they really didn't want to do. At the same time, USC came back and was answering with a couple things, but it was just great to see a lot of people flying around. I would just like to be able to contribute to that school; it would be a great thing."
How would you describe yourself as a player?
"As a player, I would probably describe myself as a downhill, hard-hitting linebacker. I just like to get in there...but at same time I'm reading (the play) too. I'm not just going downhill and not paying attention to my keys, but I'm just very physical. Very, very physical."
Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?
"Oh yeah. Ray Lewis, most definitely."
Which linebacker position does coach Pellum like you best at?
"He told me it would most likely be outside linebacker."
What are you looking for in a program?
"I guess what I'm looking for in a program is just a great academic school that's gonna be able to help me with my subjects and I want to be able to excel on the field, get some good coaching and be able to be the best linebacker I can be. At the same time, I want to get a good education, which is the main reason to go to college."
Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?
"I haven't really decided, but I've been looking at business and sociology."
What are some of the offers that you currently hold from other schools?
"Right now I have Arizona State, SMU and Colorado."
Who else have you been hearing a lot from?
"UCLA and Oregon."
Do you have a list of favorites out of schools you've heard from or schools that you'd like to hear from?
"No, I don't really have a top list. I'm just playing to the best of my ability and am just thankful for the offers that are coming."
As far as camps and unofficial visits go, where have you been and where do you plan on going this summer?
"So far I've taken two unofficial visits: One to Arizona State and one to UCLA. This summer I'm probably not gonna go around too much. I'll be at school on the summer program."
