Davis Patiently Waits For Oregon Offer, Visit

Recently, schools are catching on to the fact that if they want to land one of the Davis twins, they'll have to offer both of them. Youngstown (OH) Fitch athletes Chris and Demitrious Davis are a couple of the hottest names on the recruiting trail these days and eDuck Sports sat down with Chris, a three-star athlete according to Scout.com, to get the scoop on where things stand with Oregon.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No, not right now, but I've been talking to (defensive backs) coach (John) Neal and he said that I will have one coming."

Did he specify a time when you might be able to expect that offer?

"No, not really. He said soon."

Have members of the Oregon coaching staff come out to Ohio to visit you?

"Yeah they came out twice. I think one was in January and one was in February, or something like that. Coach (Gary) Campbell, the running backs coach, came out."

How often have you been in contact with Oregon throughout the recruiting process?

"I've been in contact with them since January and I contact coach Neal whenever I can. Once a week I try to call him."

Oregon has offered your brother, Demitrious Davis. Are you guys truly a "package deal"?

"We're for sure gonna play together in college. We just want to stick together."

Is distance a factor for both you and Demitrious?

"Distance doesn't really matter to me. If I have to leave Ohio, I will. It doesn't really matter."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I'm very interested in Oregon just because it's a winning program and I like the coaching staff."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I think that I'm explosive, strong and fast."

In your conversations with the Oregon coaches, have they told you whether or not they like you on offense or defense?

"I was talking to coach Campbell when he was here and he was saying how they think I would fit better on the defensive side of the ball. If I did happen to play offense, it would be at slot receiver."

Do you have a preference either way?

"It doesn't matter to me as long as whatever gets you on the field the fastest."

Is there a player at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"I try to pattern myself after Darrelle Revis."

What are you looking for in a program?

"What I'm looking for is a winning program, good academics and basically somewhere where I can be for four or five years."

What are some of the offers that you currently hold from other schools?

"UCLA, Arkansas, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Oregon State...I can't really think of them all."

Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?

"No, I don't have no tops right now. I'm not gonna make a tops, I'm just gonna commit."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"I want to do business marketing."

As far as camps and unofficial visits go, where have you been and where do you plan on going this summer?

"So far I've been to Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Toledo. Those are just camps around my area, basically. Then, I'm going to Arkansas, Vanderbilt and I think UCLA."

Do you have a timetable for when you would ideally like to have a decision made?

"I'm thinking about the end of July or the beginning of August."

Do you have plans to take any official visits?

"No, I haven't planned out my official visits. I know if I get an Oregon (offer), I will for sure plan one there (laughter)."

Have coach Neal and coach Campbell discussed getting you out to Eugene for a visit at some point?

"Coach Campbell just told my brother that if we want to visit that we should just try to make it out for an official."
