Davis Sees Oregon As National Title Contender

On tape, Youngstown (OH) Fitch three-star athlete Demitrious Davis is pure speed and explosiveness packed tightly into a 5'10'', 182 lbs. frame. A player who models himself after Oregon running back LaMichael James, Davis is looking for the program that best suits his sublime talents.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"Yes."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"I'd say for like the last three months I've started to get in contact with them, sending my film and everything like that. Contact is good; I've been talking to coach (Gary) Campbell probably about once a week."

Has coach Campbell from Oregon been the only coach from Oregon that you've been in contact with?

"Yes."

Are you and your brother Chris Davis planning on being a package deal, or will you guys make your own decision?

"Yeah, we're planning on going to school together, so yeah we're a package deal."

What is your overall interest in Oregon right now?

"My interest is very high on Oregon right now. I'd say they're one of the tops right now."

What stands out to you when you consider Oregon as a potential option?

"They don't recruit many running backs; they probably only have a handful of offers out right now. It's just a great offer to have; they contend for a national championship year-in and year-out so that's a good sell."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I'd describe myself as a speedy-type, quick guy. I have power too...I'm not 200 lbs. but I have power also."

Is there a player at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"I'd say Percy Harvin as a slot receiver and probably LaMichael James as a running back."

Is distance a factor for you?

"No, not at all. I want to go to the best place that puts me in a position to play and the right place to win."

What are you looking for in a program?

"A winning program, a good school of course and I have to like the coaching staff also."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"Marketing. I want to go for marketing."

What are some of the offers that you currently hold from other schools?

"I have Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Arkansas, Oregon State, Boise State, SMU, Baylor, all the MAC, all the Big East, Iowa, Purdue...that's all I can really remember right now."

Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?

"I don't really have a top list. I have top schools, but I just don't have a top list right now...a lot of my spread schools (are standing out) like Pittsburgh, West Virginia, SMU, Oregon...just them type of schools."

Have you and your brother discussed any potential visit dates with the Oregon coaching staff?

"Coach Campbell is supposed to tell me when, but so far all he said is that he wants to get me out for a game; like one of (Oregon's) first games or something like that."

As far as camps and unofficial visits go, where have you been and where do you plan on going this summer?

"I've been to Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Akron, Toledo, Kent State, Indiana and I plan of visit, hopefully -- cause I want to go out (to Oregon) before coach Campbell said -- so probably Oregon and maybe SMU."

Do you have a timeline as far as when you would ideally like to have a decision made?

"Not really, not right now. Whenever it feels right."
