With the offense clad in yellow, junior quarterback Darron Thomas was sharp as he integrated junior running backs LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner into more of the snaps as the offense broke down a few of their more simpler play calls.
Meanwhile, the defense continued to work on assignments, mainly in the coverage department as game day against LSU approaches in exactly two weeks.
During a scrimmage, freshman defensive back Erick Dargan snagged an interception to make the play of the morning for the defensive side. He also batted down a Thomas pass later on as he helped a defense that has been battling the injury bug throughout camp.
Notably, backup quarterbacks Bryan Bennett (now sporting number 2 on his jersey) and Dustin Haines saw some extra snaps in drills. Bennett connected with sophomore Nick Cole for a touchdown during scrimmage, hitting him down the sideline after Cole blew by his defender. Outside of that, Thomas handled most of the snaps during scrimmage.
However, for the most part, the fundamentals were still being executed with regularity as the morning session came to a close.
