Cottrell Sets Official For Oregon

With his list of schools narrowed to just a handful, Plano (TX) Plano West Senior three-star linebacker Bryce Cottrell has set two official visits, one of which is to the reigning Pac-10/12 champions.

Having already unofficially visited Eugene back in June, Plano (TX) Plano West Senior three-star defensive end/linebacker Bryce Cottrell has now solidified an official visit date to Oregon this upcoming football season.

"I scheduled a visit for October 15th," Cottrell said Wednesday night.

"I believe they're playing Arizona State."

The speedy, blitzing linebacker is one of only a handful of prospects the Ducks plan on taking at the position this recruiting cycle and is the only known linebacker prospect at this time that has committed to an official visit date with Oregon. Ducks linebacker coach Don Pellum has spearheaded Cottrell's recruitment, with Cottell stating that the two have been in close contact throughout the summer months.

"I just touch base with him every once in awhile," Cottrell said. "I just call him up to say what's up and what not and basically just check in."

Aside from Oregon, Arkansas is the other school "sticking out" according to Cottrell, with Arizona trailing closely behind. In fact, the Razorbacks will receive an official visit from Cottrell on October 8th, exactly one week before the Plano, Tex. native plans on visiting Oregon.

As for a timetable on a possible decision, Cottrell says he'd like to have one sometime between "October and after our season ends."
