Though he doesn't currently hold an official offer from Oregon, that hasn't stopped Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines four-star offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi from arranging an official visit to Eugene this fall.
"I'm taking an official visit to Oregon on September 9," said Poutasi, who indicated early Friday afternoon that the Ducks will be his first of five allowable official visits. "I'm really looking forward to it."
Poutasi plans on taking in the Ducks' 2011 home opener against Nevada the following day, saying that he's particularly excited to see Oregon's renowned facilities up close and personal.
"I'm looking forward to seeing their locker room," laughed Poutasi. "I really love their locker room."
Over the summer, Poutasi said that offensive line coach Steve Greatwood, and the rest of the Oregon staff, wanted to see Poutasi's results from some summer courses before pledging an offer to the hulking 6'5'', 315 lbs tackle. With the results finally in, Poutasi admitted that the coaches were very encouraged with his academic performance.
"They said they are very impressed," stated Poutasi. "I guess I'll wait and see what happens next...Right now I don't have an offer, but if they offer me while on the visit, I would be really pleased with the offer."
For now, Washington and Hawaii are the only two other schools Poutasi says he's working on scheduling official visits to, though he confessed that that could quickly change.
"I'm planning on setting others up," Poutasi said, "but at the moment, I only have Oregon set up right now."
