1st Commit for the Ducks

Oregon has picked up their first commitment of the year as David Faaeteete, a 6-2, 265 pound defensive tackle from North Medford (Ore.) has committed to the Ducks. Faaeteete is a player we liked a lot at the Nike Camp in Eugene (Ore.) last year and obviously we weren't the only ones.

"He just committed last Friday," North Medford head coach John Beck said. "He went to Oregon's camp last year and just fell in love with the place. He really loved the coaching staff, especially Coach Greatwood and told me at the time that if Oregon ever offered him, he would go ahead and commit on the spot.

"Oregon State offered him too and he had a lot of other schools from the Pac 10 checking him out but his heart was set on Oregon. He's very excited to have the decision out of the way early so now he can just focus on football and upcoming school season."

Faaeteete had a strong showing at the Nike Camp last summer where he clocked a 5.03 in the 40, a 4.37 in the shuttle, jumped 26 inches in the vertical and did 15 reps on the bench.

"He has to be one of the most dominant players in Oregon, that's for sure," Beck said. "He's so athletic and has great feet. He's very tough to block one on one because of how athletic he is and now he's getting bigger and stronger every day as well. We're all very excited for him and David is excited to be the first commit in this year's class for Oregon."
