Daniel Wastes No Time, Chooses Oregon

Late Sunday night, Oakland (CA) Bishop O'Dowd two-star athlete Terrance (T.J.) Daniel made the call and verbally pledged to Oregon head coach Chip Kelly and the Ducks after receiving the long awaited offer on Saturday. Daniel, who could play either tight end or defensive end at the next level, discussed with eDuck Sports the details surrounding his commitment.

Are you a verbal commitment to the University of Oregon?

"Yeah...I got an offer (from Oregon) last night."

Which coach from Oregon offered you?

"It was coach (Chip) Kelly."

Prior to them offering you last night, what kind of contact did you have with the Oregon coaching staff?

"They came to the school and I've been in contact with them since they came to the school."

Have you taken a visit to Oregon yet?

"No, not yet."

Do you have any plans as far as taking an unofficial or official visit?

"Soon. I might go up there for a Saturday game, but when, I'm not sure."

What was it about Oregon that made you want to verbally commit to them?

"It's one of the best, if not THE best, athletic or academic schools in the nation and I wanted to be a part of their winning seasons."

Which coach from Oregon did you notify of your verbal commitment?

"I was talking to coach (Nick) Aliotti...he was excited. He said that coach Kelly was excited and that he can't wait to get me up there for a visit."

Do you have any plans to take any other visits elsewhere, or is the Oregon visit the only one you intend on making?

"I don't have anything planned right now, but I'm not sure (if I'll visit elsewhere)."

What were some of the other official offers that you had from other schools?

"I had an offer from UNLV."

Were you hearing from any other schools who you thought might have been close to offering?

"I was talking to Cal Poly, Washington, Oregon State, Nevada, UNLV and I think that's it."

How would you describe your game and yourself as a player?

"I'm diverse; I can play both ways, defense/offense, and I punt."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"Yeah, I was thinking something in the science field."

As far as enrolling in school goes, when do you plan on arriving on campus?

"I'm thinking maybe after this term, but I'm not really sure. I haven't really set a time."
