Allen To Be Visited By Oregon This Week

Blocking and being physical on the perimeter, in general, is necessary if one is to garner playing time at wide receiver for Chip Kelly at Oregon. In Missouri City (TX) Lawrence E. Elkins three-star wide receiver Chance Allen, the Ducks may have their quintessential prospect at the position.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No sir. Not yet."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"It's going good right now. I talked to coach Scott (Frost) and he's been on me. He's coming for a house visit on Wednesday and he came to my basketball game like last week, so we've been talking a good bit and everything."

Has coach Frost been the only coach from Oregon that you've been in contact with?

"Yes sir. I e-mail Chip Kelly every once in a while. We e-mail, but that's about it."

What about Oregon stands out to you right now?

"Just the tempo of the offense and everything and how the receivers get the ball down the field. And coach Kelly and how he goes for it on fourth down...everything's good right now. I know it's a great place to be -- in Eugene -- and it's a good program and everything, so it's all nice."

Will you be taking an official visit to Oregon?

"Yes sir. I'll be taking one in January."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"Most of my game is just up and down the field; possession receiver. I can get jump balls in the back of the endzone and I'm just a big target on third downs and everything. I can get that short yardage if they need it. Mostly, I'm just a physical receiver, I like to get in to blocks and everything, so I'm just always involved in the game."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"Mostly, number one is Andre Johnson. He's just a big receiver and a big target on the field. I kind of also see myself as Calvin Johnson. I've got a 6'4'' frame, so I would compare myself to him."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Just the people. Just the people that are around there and everything. Just getting to know people easily and not having a hard time in the classroom...Mostly just the people and how the team is. That's mostly my number one factor. How similar to home it is."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to major in once you get to college?

"Probably forensic science or criminal justice."

What are some of the offers that you have right now from other schools?

"I have Texas A&M, I have Iowa State, I have Minnesota, Tulsa, Houston, Oregon State, Mississippi State and there's a number of others."

Would you say that you have a top five at this point?

"My top five is mostly Oregon, Iowa State, I'm talking to Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and probably Houston."

You mentioned that you have an in-home visit with Oregon this week. Do you have plans for the next few weeks and months?

"No, not that I know of. I've got Iowa State (coming to visit) probably after my Oregon visit."
