The game had been a back and forth affair with neither team able to create more than a seven-point lead. With just 7.6 seconds left on the clock, Oregon's Olu Ashaolu tied the game at 71 but missed a free throw that would have give the Ducks the lead. Instead, Colorado moved the ball down court and with time expiring Nate Tomlinson was fouled by E.J. Singler.
Officials put one second back onto the game clock and sent Tomlinson to the free throw line where he made the first but intentionally missed the second. Oregon threw up a desperation throw towards the other basket the missed.
Both teams are now 16-7 for the season but Colorado is 8-3 in conference play while the Ducks dropped to 7-4.
Three Ducks scored in double figures led by Devoe Joseph's 18. Ashaolu added 17 and Singler had 13.
Askia Booker paced Colorado with 17 while Spencer Dinwiddie contributed 16.
- E.J. Singler had 13 points and 13 rebounds for his fourth career double-double (first of the season). His 13 rebounds were a season-high.
- Olu Ashaolu (17 points) reached double-figures in scoring for the seventh time this season.
- Devoe Joseph scored a game-high 18 points to lead the team in scoring for the ninth time this season.
