Harlow Headed North This Weekend

After witnessing first-hand the recruitment of his teammate Kyle Murphy last year, San Clemente (CA) three-star offensive lineman Sean Harlow looks to experience life in Murphy's shoes this upcoming recruiting cycle as the SoCal star has already fielded offers from some of the best programs out west. This weekend, Harlow heads north for unofficial visits in the Pacific Northwest.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"Yeah I do."

How long ago did you receive that offer?

"About two weeks ago I think."

How often have you been in contact with Oregon and when was your first contact with them?

"I saw coach [Steve] Greatwood a few times just because he was recruiting Kyle Murphy down here, so I talked to him a few times. I got a few letters and stuff from [Oregon], just the ones that everyone gets kind of. They can't call me, so they called my dad cause he's the coach, and I called coach Greatwood and I talked to him and coach [Chip] Kelly and they told me they'd like to offer me."

Was that the last time you talked with coach Greatwood?

"I actually talked with coach Greatwood yesterday because I'm going up to check out Oregon State and Oregon this weekend...I leave tomorrow."

In your conversations with coach Greatwood, what kinds of things have the two of you discussed?

"He likes that I can play all five positions [on the offensive line], he likes my aggressiveness, and my technique, as well."

What are you looking to get out of the trip?

"This is my first trip, so I'm really just trying to get a feel for the coaches, as well as the actual school and the environment. I'm not too sure yet. I'm sure I'll know more of what I'm looking for once I actually see around and know what to compare it to I guess."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"Overall, I'm interested in them a lot. I'm interested in everyone right now; it's all open. I really like their aggressiveness, how fast they play...I'm not really sure about their offensive style as far as the spread...but Oregon State also, I'm really interested in them too. I have a good bond with coach [Mike] Cavanaugh and I'm looking forward to that, too."

In your conversations with coach Greatwood, has he specified whether he prefers you at tackle or guard?

"No. He says that he thinks I can play tackle or I can go inside. It all depends on where he'd need me, really."

Do you have a preference as far as what offensive line position you play?

"Anywhere is fine. I just want to be out there. This is my first year playing tackle, so I'm still trying to get used to that. I'm sure once I get up to a school, they can teach me up."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I play aggressive to the whistle and try to get after it every play. I think just because of my size right now, I'd be best at a guard, but I'm still going to grow a couple inches or so and put on a lot more weight. I can play any position, really. I don't really care."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after?

"I really like to watch Matt Kalil from USC; I thought he was really good. I'm not really too much in to the pro level; I think a lot of the technique goes away up there as far as I'm concerned. I've been looking up to the high school level and my teammate, Kyle Murphy."

What are you looking for in a program?

"It all depends really on what position they want me to play. I think I'd rather [play in] a pro-style offense, but I mean, I'm not saying I wouldn't go to a spread or anything else. I also want to have a good feel with all the players, not just the coaches, because I'm going to be spending four to five years there and I want to make sure I get along with everyone there."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"I'm thinking probably kinesiology or something with sports medicine."

What are the offers you currently hold from other schools?

"Obviously Oregon, Oregon State, Colorado, Utah, Washington, and Boise State right now."

Are you in regular contact with any other schools who have not offered you yet?

"I've been in contact with Duke, although I'm not sure how interested I'd be in them right now; I think I'm going to try and stay Pac-12...No one really in particular, but that's how it's been with all the other offers. They've been kind of random and all of the sudden I have to call them and they offer me."

Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?

"I have six [offers] right now, so they're all my top six right now. I'll know more after I take these trips."

As far as camps, unofficial visits, and Junior Days go, where have you been and where do you plan on going over the next few months?

"Tripped to Colorado after the season before they offered me and I thought [Boulder] was a pretty good town. I'm going up to Utah at the end of this month and I'm going to try to make it up to Washington's Junior Day on the 28th of April...I'll probably end up having more [visits] the more offers I get."
