Nike camp report - Nate Johnson

Nate Johnson is a 6-3, 232-pound athlete from Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes and he had his choice of positions to play when he participated in Saturday's Oregon Nike camp in Eugene. Tight end or defensive end? Well, he decided to work out with the defensive guys, and he showed that he could compete with the best DE's in the Northwest.

Johnson ran a 5.00 40, 4.5 shuttle, jumped 25.8 inches in the vertical and benched 185 pounds 21 times. He characterized his testing as 'disappointing'.

"I did alright," Nate said when asked about how he did overall. "I felt I was a little quicker off the ball than a lot of those guys. The one-on-ones was great. It made me feel a lot better, especially after the testing. You could defintely see that there were good linemen from everywhere, but I felt like I held my own."

Northwestern, UW, Stanford, Montana and Eastern Washington are the colleges that have been the ones to show Nate the most love recently. "But I think a lot of interest will come based on how I did here and how I do at their camps," he added.

Johnson camped the next day at Oregon. He has plans to camp at Stanford and then will join his team for their camp at Eastern Washington.
