The two upcoming games continue a series between the two school which met in 1998 and 1999. The previous two games split with Oregon winning in 1998, 48-15 and Michigan State taking the 1999 contest, 27-20.
"I have tremendous respect for the program that Coach (Mark) Dantonio and his staff have built at Michigan State," Oregon Head Coach Chip Kelly said in a media release from the Oregon Athletic Department on Tuesday. "There is little doubt a game of this magnitude will present an early-season challenge for us but one that hopefully will make our team better as the season progresses."
The media release also indicated that Oregon will concludes its home-and-home series with Tennessee Sept. 13, 2013.
"Michigan State is a quality opponent and we are excited to host them at Autzen Stadium," Oregon Athletics Director Rob Mullens said the Tuesday release. "The home-and-home series with Michigan State will complement the rigors of the Pac-12 Conference. The Pac-12 and Big Ten share many of the same ideals and this non-conference matchup will benefit both schools."
