Nike camp report - Carl Shaw

Despite earning all-GSL honors at WR in 2002, Carl Shaw is trying something new. The 6-3, 187-pound athlete from Spokane (Wash.) Lewis and Clark picked up the pigskin in Eugene Saturday and starting chucking it around. With his athleticism, he just might play a little QB this fall, so he took advantage of the teachings at the Oregon Nike camp to get his feet wet in the pocket.

"I'm not sure, it's still under debate," Shaw told TheInsiders.com. "I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen, but it felt good to throw. A little shaky but it was good. I have all summer to work on things. There were some good athletes out there.

"I think my future is on offensive side of the ball. I like the quarterback position, but it could be at receiver too."

Carl ran a 4.8 40, repped 185 pounds 18 times on the bench and had a 32.5-inch vertical jump.

The Oregon Nike camp was just the beginning for Shaw, as he's planning on attending camps at Washington State and Washington.

He doesn't have any scholarship offers yet, but is hearing a lot from Washington State, Washington, UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State.
