LaRue Sees Himself As A "Josh Huff Type"

One of the top overall athletes on the West Coast, it is unknown at this time where exactly Santa Monica (CA) four-star athlete Sebastian LaRue will play. Will it be wide receiver? Cornerback? LaRue doesn't seem to have a preference, though he does see himself in the mold of a current Oregon wide receiver.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No, not at this moment."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"With Oregon, it's a school that I've been receiving a lot of letters from. That's probably it from Oregon. I think they've contacted my coach, but that's about it."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"I'm very interested in Oregon. It's a school that's West Coast, I like their program, they're Nike and that's something people definitely look in to and things like that. I'm definitely interested in their program. I like their offense, I like the type of players they recruit, such as Josh Huff; he's the type of player that I see myself as."

What position are most schools evaluating you at? Is it wide receiver or defensive back? Is it one position over another?

"No, not really. I haven't played a full year of defensive back -- a full year of corner -- so after this year, I think I'll be more prepared to make a decision on where I would like to stay in college. Really, I'm just trying to play whatever a coach wants me to play in college; wherever they think I can be most successful at on the next level."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I feel like I'm very electric; a gamebreaker, dynamic type player. I'm very versatile and I just make plays whenever I get the ball into my hands."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"At the professional level, it would probably have to be DeSean Jackson. I just like the way he returns the ball, plays receiver in the slot and on the outside, and is just a force wherever he is on the field."

What are you looking for in a program?

"Some of the things I'm looking for in a program is a chance to compete for early playing time, a coaching staff that can relate to their players very well, and a great campus life."

Have you given any thought as to what you might want to study when you get to college?

"I think I want to study something along the lines of business and marketing."

What are some of the offers you currently have from other schools right now?

"Right now I have: Texas A&M, I have Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington State, Washington, UCLA,, there's a lot more schools I know (laughter). It's hard to name them all."

Do you have a top five or a list of favorites at this point?

"As of right now I don't have a top five, but I'm thinking about narrowing it down probably towards the end of the summer or before the start of my senior season."

As far as camps, unofficial visits, and Junior Days go, where have you been and where do you plan on going over the next few months?

"I've been to UCLA, USC, and Arizona State and I don't know exactly where I'm going to check out next, but I'm definitely going to try and get out to some of the main schools that have offered me and even some of the smaller time schools that have offered me. Not smaller programs, but ones that are not as big name as some of the other schools."
