Carrington Will Camp In Eugene This June

At 6'2'', 175 lbs., San Diego (CA) Horizon Junior Senior athlete Darren Carrington could seamlessly play either cornerback or wide receiver at the collegiate level. Carrington tells eDuck that wide receiver is his natural position, and also the position that his favorite school is recruiting him at.

Do you currently have an offer from Oregon?

"No I don't."

What kind of contact have you had with Oregon since the recruiting process started for you?

"I've talked to coach (Scott) Frost on the phone and I chatted with him for a little bit on Facebook."

When was the last time you spoke with coach Frost?

"About two weeks, maybe three weeks ago."

How often would you say that you're in contact with him?

"I kind of been playing (phone) tag with him and sometimes I miss him."

In your conversations with coach Frost, what types of things have the two of you discussed?

"He's told me what he likes about me and he's told me about the school. I think I'm going to be attending the camp over the summer in June and do a little visit...He said I'm very athletic and I'm a possession (receiver); I can go get the ball."

What is your overall interest in Oregon at this point?

"On a scale of 1 to 10, it's probably like a 15."

What is it about Oregon that has you so interested in them as a potential option?

"I love the spread offense and the coaches; they just seem really chill and they seem like they want to get to know you better like as a person and as a player and teach you the game, also. Also, I like to dress nice when I play and Oregon has the number one uniforms."

How would you describe yourself as a player?

"I would say that I'm a very good leader on the field and I like the ball in my hands. If they [the coaches] just give me a chance to catch it, I'll most likely go get it. I'm a good route runner and I have good hands."

Is there a guy at the collegiate or professional level that you try to pattern your game after at all?

"He's going to the NFL this year, but it was Michael Floyd from Notre Dame."

What are you looking for in a program?

"The atmosphere, because I want to know what I'll be around for the next four years of my life. The coaches; I want to be friends with my coaches, not just have them coach me -- and the people on the team.

Have you given any thought as to what you want to study when you get to college?

"I want to study in business management and get involved with music."

What are some of the offers you currently hold from other programs?

"I have an offer from Washington State and the University of Montana."

Have there been any other schools that you've been hearing a lot from?

"Yeah, I've been talking to UCLA a lot and Pittsburgh."

As far as camps, unofficial visits and Junior Days go, where have you been and where do you plan on going over the next few months?

"I plan on going to Oregon over the summer and I want to go somewhere on the East Coast -- in Georgia and Florida -- and just get my name out there...I haven't been to a Junior Day yet, but I just finished the Nike training camp in Long Beach."
