KEZI-9 Wins Emmy Award

Eugene, OR-June 25th, 2003 KEZI-9 is the winner of an Emmy Award in the category of Sports Special, station officials announced today.

The award is for the special entitled "Oregon Football 2002-Race for the National Championship," and was handed out at the 40th Annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards Ceremony on June 21st in Seattle, Washington. Named as winners are Executive Producer and Anchor of Oregon Sports programming, Joe Giansante and Chief Photographer-Operations Producer of Oregon Sports programming, Roger Waterman. This is Giansante's second Emmy award. Mr. Giansante has been nominated for four Emmy Awards, previously winning for his work on Oregon Football in 2001.

"Our sports team works hard to bring quality sports journalism to viewers," said Scott Chambers, KEZI-9 President. "We are extremely proud of our people and this award." Mr. Chambers also praised the partnership with the University of Oregon and the Oregon Sports Network, and appreciates their support for this type of programming.

KEZI-9 became the OSN affiliate in 2000. Since then KEZI-9 has expanded UO Sports programming from 18 hours to nearly 80 hours. In addition, KEZI-9 has produced almost 60 separate shows during the past year including coaches shows for football and basketball, as well as "Oregon Game Day" and "Oregon Sports Quarterly." In addition, KEZI-9 provides live coverage for Duck football and Men's and Women's basketball games.

OSN's affiliates are KEZI-9 Eugene, KWBP-Portland, KDRV-Medford and KDKF-Klamath Falls.
