Ainge is emerging big time!

One of the hottest quarterback prospects out West has been Hillsboro's (Ore.) Glencoe Erik Ainge. Ainge exploded on to the scene at the NorCal Nike Camp where he showed off one of the nation's strongest arms and was on the money all camp long. At 6-5, 195 pounds, Ainge has great size and because of his basketball background, moves well in the pocket.

As a junior, Ainge completed 177-311 passes for 2,559 yards. We were hoping to see the signal caller once again at the Nike Camp in Eugene a few weeks back but an injury prevented Ainge from working out.

"Unfortunately, I suffered two stress fractures in my feet from playing too much hoops," Ainge said. "They are healing up nice though and with my new orthodics, I've been throwing with my teammates, lifting and swimming a lot. Of course I wasn't able to play any basketball in June which was tough. Hopefully I'm totally healed by July because I'm on two summer all-star teams and we have tournaments in Georgia, Las Vegas and several other places."

On the recruiting front, Ainge has scholarship offers from Oregon State, Arizona and Arizona State.

"Coach (Mike) Bellotti at Oregon told me I was the top quarterback recruit on their board and will offer after the season begins," Ainge said. "I'm still interested in Stanford and California too along with the others I've named."
