It's 2,790 miles from Indian Trail, North Carolina to Eugene, Oregon, but for Porter Ridge High School kicker Matt Wogan, the Willamette Valley felt a lot like home during his unofficial visit and attendance at the annual Oregon football camp last weekend.
"It felt a lot like Charlotte, except the climate (in Eugene) is like the best climate in the absolute world," said Wogan of his time in Eugene.
"We didn't get to do too much, but I thought Eugene was absolutely awesome."
Wogan said he arrived in Eugene last Thursday so that he could get a chance to tour the University of Oregon campus and meet the Oregon coaching staff before competing in the kicking and snapping portion of the camp, which was held last Saturday.
"I got to meet with the life coach, the trainer, the nutritionist -- which is also the life coach -- I got to see coach (Tom) Osborne, I got to see coach (Chip) Kelly, and then the camp went very well," said Wogan.
"They actually offered me a full ride scholarship after the camp."
Aside from earning his first FBS scholarship offer, Wogan says one of the highlights of his time in Eugene was opportunity he received to sit down one-on-one and talk with Kelly and Osborne.
"I've talked to (Osborne) on the phone multiple times," said Wogan, "but this (visit) was the first one-on-one time we got to talk."
"I thought they were the most high-class individuals."
Though he admits that his trip to Oregon has given him plenty to think about, Wogan says he wants to give himself some time to sit back and think things over, over the next few weeks.
"I'm just playing it by ear I guess you could say."
In addition to Oregon, Wogan currently holds offers from UNC Charlotte, Towson, and Wofford and has been receiving heavy interest from BCS schools such as North Carolina, Auburn, LSU, Notre Dame, and Miami, among others.
