Update on Austin Hooper

I just got off the phone with De La Salle three-star defensive end Austin Hooper, who told me that he is taking a break from recruiting as he heads into his senior year.

Hooper, from Concord, CA, said that he hasn't been in contact with Oregon coaches as of late, but when he does talk to them, he speaks to defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti.

One of the reason's Hooper says he's interested in the Ducks is that he likes their system. He likes Oregon's style of play and says that it "looks like a lot of fun".

However, Hooper wants to focus on becoming a better player at De La Salle before worrying about his collegiate future. He said that he's looking to be more productive and hunt for the ball more headed into his senior season.

Once the season concludes, he plans on taking a trip to Oregon, most likely sometime in January. Due to team rules, he is not allowed to leave for visits during the season.
