High Majors On Point Guard

California point guard Quentin Thomas is seeing some coaches from high-major programs at his games this July, such as those from Kansas, Cal and Oregon, and he says that two high-majors have offered him a scholarship...

Quentin Thomas, 6-2 SR SG, Oakland (Calif.) Tech, said he has noticed the college coaches that have been attending his games so far during the July evaluation period, but he's not paying that much attention to them.

"I'm trying to stay focused on playing," Thomas said. "And that will all sort itself out."

Kansas coaches have been out to see him at the Little Big Time Tournament in San Jose the last couple of days.

When asked what schools have been recruiting him that he favored, Thomas did mention Kansas first. He said, "I like Kansas, California, and Oregon. Kentucky, North Carolina, Miami, Connecticut and UCLA have been looking at me."

Thomas, one of the top point guards in the west with probably the best physical gifts, claimed that Kansas and Cal have both offered him a scholarship, and that those two schools are recruiting him the hardest. "I like both of those," Thomas said. "But right now I don't really have a favorite."

He has visited Cal unofficially, but as of right now hasn't made plans for his official visits. "I'm going to have to talk with my family when July is over. Then I'll make a plan on which schools I'll visit."

Thomas said he has a 2.5 GPA and scored a 840 on his SAT, but plans to take it again to try to improve that score.
