Allen Discusses Oregon Visit

Four-star Phoenix (Ariz.) wide receiver Devon Allen is considering several offers from top schools. Having just visited Oregon, he discussed the trip and where he stands on his recruitment.

The Brophy Prep star, who will play in the Semper Fi All-American Bowl in January, visited Eugene this past weekend to check out both the track and football programs. Visiting with fellow track teammate Cole Walsh, who is also considering Oregon's track program, Allen said he split his time with the track and football coaches.

Taking his football tour with wide receiver coach Scott Frost and head coach Chip Kelly, Allen said he was impressed with his trip.

"It was a lot of fun," Allen said. "It was a little rainy but other than that I got to see all of the facilities, met with the coaches, did the tour. I was in awe of all of the facilities and all of the technology that they had."

"The track coaches took me around the facilities and I got to see all of the football facilities, the Jaqua Center, the Casanova Center, you know, everything that both teams use," he added.

Allen said that rumors surrounding Oregon's program aren't playing a factor right now but that he is looking for a program that will let him grow as a two-sport athlete.

"I have a top four: UCLA Stanford Oregon and Florida State," Allen said.

"All of the schools that I'm still considering are schools that would let me do both," Allen added.

Though three of his choices are based on the West Coast, Allen said he's still considering Florida State due to its strength as a track program and the resurgence of the football program.

"That's really the eye-catcher," Allen said. "To be able to win a national championship in both sports would be pretty cool."

When it comes to making a final choice, Allen said that he's waiting until he feels comfortable to announce his decision but that he believes it could come "pretty soon". He has yet to take an official visit to Stanford, but said he may take one before he officially commits.

"I'm just looking for the right fit, the right program for me," Allen said. "I'm looking for a school that has everything pretty much. I'll figure out the school I feel the best with and that's the school I'll end up going to."
